Commit Your Plans to God

It seems we live in a culture where people make many plans and then cancel a number of them. Unfortunately, this most often happens because a more appealing option comes along…sometimes because people get over-extended or just don’t “feel like it.”
Aside from REAL illness and emergency, ghosting on commitments and canceling plans displays a lack of integrity, self-discipline, commitment, and respect for others.

Do you struggle with any of this? If so, here are a few ideas for how to grow in this area:

  1. Honor your commitments…this includes your spouse, your children, your church, and your employer.
  2. Make fewer but more meaningful plans.
  3. Learn to say “no” to some things so you can say yes to the things that are truly important.
  4. Be a person of your word.
  5. Be dependable.

Instead of establishing your plans on the most appealing option, prayerfully take your potential appointments, meetings, and tasks to God.

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3
